Stop selling outside; come inside the market – Kantamanto Coordinator to traders

Kantamanto Market Coordinator, Kakari Mensah, has expressed concern about indiscipline among some traders at the market.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem during the station’s visit to the market, Mr. Mensah said measures that were put in place after the fire disaster earlier this year are being ignored by some traders.

“When our place was not burnt, our leaders put things in place to help the market. We had a task force and security to ensure discipline and make sure people who went wrong were dealt with according to the law,” he recalled.

He lamented that despite repeated efforts, some traders continue to sell along the railway lines instead of inside the market.

“Some of the market people have gone back to the rails to sell when it is not supposed to be like that. I always tell our leaders to do something about it, but they have tried stopping them to no avail,” he said.

Mr. Mensah also condemned the practice where some traders misinform buyers that the market is closed due to the fire incident.

“Sometimes they will even convince buyers that they are not sellers inside and that the place is closed because of the fire. But the truth is, we are working inside, and we want other traders to come inside and do business,” he urged.

According to him, keeping trading activities inside the market is the only way to restore order and discipline at Kantamanto.
