Mahama urges UK Businesses to use Ghana as AfCFTA hub

Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged UK businesses to expand their investments in Ghana, highlighting the nation’s political stability and growing economy as key advantages.

Speaking on Friday, September 19, while welcoming the new British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, in Accra, Mahama emphasized Ghana’s strategic positioning within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a major draw for investors.

“We are encouraging more UK companies—there are already so many of them—to come and set up in Ghana, using the country as a gateway to take advantage of the AfCFTA. Now, we are able to export duty-free, tariff-free into each other’s markets,” he said.

Mahama added that Ghana is positioning itself as a competitive entry point for businesses looking to access broader African markets.
