Producer inflation hits lowest level in nearly two years as Dr. Forson’s policies deliver results

Ghana’s economic stability agenda under Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has achieved another milestone, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) recording a sharp slowdown in inflation for August 2025.

Data from the Ghana Statistical Service show that year-on-year producer inflation fell to 3.0% in August, down from 3.6% in July. This is the lowest rate since November 2023 and marks seven consecutive months of decline.

Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, said the manufacturing sector was the key driver of the slowdown, with producer inflation in the sector dropping to 1.6% in August from 3.2% in July.

Transport and accommodation costs also contributed to the easing trend, with transport prices falling by 8.0% year-on-year and accommodation and food services declining by 3.1%. These reductions, Dr. Iddrisu noted, are helping to ease pressure on households and businesses.

The development adds to a series of positive economic indicators credited to the fiscal discipline and targeted interventions championed by Dr. Forson. His focus on debt sustainability, cost control, and productivity-led growth has created conditions for inflation to ease while keeping critical sectors stable.
