Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has praised his players for adhering to the game plan in their narrow 1-0 victory over Dreams FC at the weekend.
The Kpando-based side secured all three points at the Kpando Sports Stadium, with Ebenezer Abban converting a 25th-minute penalty to hand the hosts the win and avenge previous defeats to the Still Believe side.
“Dreams has always been a bogey team for us, and it was not easy beating them,” Bashir said in a post-match interview.
“I am pleased with the instructions I gave to my attackers: to maintain control of the ball and, when entering the 18-yard box, not to panic, because there is always another option if they are fouled. That led to the only goal of the match,” Hayford added.
The victory lifts Heart of Lions to fifth place after the opening round of fixtures in the Ghana Premier League. The team now turns its focus to their next match against newly promoted Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Stadium.
