The pupils of Menang D/A Primary School in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region are appealing for urgent support in the form of modern infrastructure and furniture to improve teaching and learning.
This came to light when Adom News visited the school to assess conditions on the ground.
According to some of the pupils, their classrooms are makeshift wooden structures with weak, broken furniture that is woefully inadequate.
They lamented that anytime it rains, lessons are disrupted, and in some cases, snakes and stray animals invade their classrooms, putting their lives at risk.
Community opinion leaders also expressed grave concern, describing the school structure as a death trap.
They revealed that many parents now prevent their children from attending the school, fearing a possible collapse of the weak wooden buildings.
They further noted that the few available dual desks are overcrowded, seating four to five pupils instead of the standard two, forcing others to sit on the bare floor.
The community is therefore appealing to government, NGOs, and well-meaning individuals to intervene by providing a modern classroom block and adequate furniture to ensure safe and quality education for their children.
