The Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah, has urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates not to punish Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for any mistakes or shortcomings of MPs and other leaders supporting his flagbearership bid.
Speaking during a campaign engagement, the MP admitted that as public officials, they may have offended some party members in the discharge of their duties.
However, he stressed that such grievances should not be transferred to Dr. Bawumia, whom he described as a “good and innocent man.”
“We lost 2024 because of our internal issues. Some people did not vote because they were upset with their MP, their Electoral Area Coordinator, an appointee, or even a fellow party member. I understand that people are upset for various reasons.
“But this flagbearer election is not about us; it is about choosing the person who can best lead us into the next election. I believe Dr. Bawumia is the best man to lead us because he is a good man with a good heart and is well prepared to win,” Adomako-Mensah said.
He appealed directly to delegates, asking them to forgive any perceived wrongs committed by MPs and executives and focus instead on the Vice President’s qualities.
“If you’re an Executive here and I or any MP has offended you, please look at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and forgive us. If you’re a party member and you have been offended by any of us, please look at Dr. Bawumia and forgive us. He is an innocent man. Let us come together and vote for him. He is a good man,” he added.
