Inadequate teaching staff in Amansie South district due to high cost of rent – GES

The Deputy Education Director of Amansie South in the Ashanti Region, Mathias Kyeremanteng Antwi, has revealed there is a shortage of teaching staff in the district.

According to him, the inadequate teaching staff in various schools is attributed to the high cost of rent in the area.

He said some basic schools in the enclave have only three teachers.

“This is a serious challenge confronting our education in Amansie South, as most teachers refuse postings to the area due to the high rent,” explained Kyeremanteng Antwi.

He attributed the high cost of rent to the fact that the area is a mining community and called on the government and NGOs to assist in building teachers’ bungalows to attract more teachers and improve the quality of education.

He spoke to Adom News when Peter Anwere, the Assembly Member for Manso Adubia, donated thousands of exercise books and learning materials to some schools.

He said the donation was part of his corporate social responsibility.

“When school reopened, many children were staying home due to a lack of learning materials, so my committee and I decided to donate these books to bridge that gap,” he said.

The Assembly Member urged his constituents to take their education seriously to help develop Manso Edubia and its environs, promising to continue the initiative every academic term to reduce the burden on parents.

The presentation was made at the Amansie South District Education Office in Manso Adubia.
