Gideon Boako replies Tano North Secretary over ‘wicked lies’ against Bawumia

The Member of Parliament for Tano North and spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako, has dismissed claims by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Tano North Constituency Secretary, Stephen Ntiamoah, that his support for the former Vice President is based solely on loyalty, despite allegedly believing Dr. Bawumia cannot win the 2028 elections.

Describing the allegations as “wicked lies,” Dr. Boako stressed that such claims are baseless and must be treated with contempt.

In a statement responding to the comments, Dr. Boako clarified that he was not present at the alleged delegates’ meeting where the remarks were reportedly made.

He explained that his support for Dr. Bawumia stems from conviction, not blind loyalty.

“My support for Dr. Bawumia is based on my firm belief that he is the most credible, experienced, and winnable candidate to lead the NPP into victory in 2028. Any claims to the contrary are nothing but figments of imagination,” he said.

The Tano North legislator further cited the overwhelming endorsement Dr. Bawumia received during the 2023 NPP flagbearer elections in his constituency, where he secured 83% of the votes.

He added that the people of Tano North remain committed to backing Dr. Bawumia, while he himself is focused on mobilising nationwide support for the party’s 2024 presidential candidate alongside fulfilling his parliamentary duties.

Dr. Boako also cautioned aspirants against dragging his name into their campaigns, stressing that his political goodwill is the result of years of humble and dedicated service, strongly supported by Dr. Bawumia.

“We will continue to work with all our energy for Dr. Bawumia, and come 31st January 2026, the results will once again speak for themselves. Let us stay focused. Victory is assured,” he declared.
