We’ll ensure Okyere Baafi honours his word if NPP loses Akwatia – Baba Jamal

Former Akwatia MP, Baba Jamal, has called on New Juaben South legislator Michael Okyere Baafi to honor his public pledge to resign from Parliament if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) loses the Akwatia by-election.

During the one-week observance of the late Akwatia MP Ernest Kumi, Mr. Okyere Baafi criticized the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to fulfill its 2024 campaign promises and confidently stated: “If the NPP loses this Akwatia by-election, I will resign as MP. Mark my words!”

Speaking to the media, Baba Jamal stressed that the NDC would ensure the NPP lawmaker is held accountable if his party is defeated.

“Otherwise, we’ll give him the necessary disdain and disrespect as MP. We’ll show him serious disrespect because we won’t trust him again. He has made a public promise. As I’m speaking now, have I put my integrity on the line? I’m saying I’ll be extremely surprised if we win; politics is full of surprises. But if he said he’ll resign, we are going to hold him to that,” he asserted.
