The 2000 Year Group of the Accra Academy has dismissed as “unfounded and malicious” allegations of corruption levelled against its executives over the construction of an eco-park for the school.
The group insists the claims, made by an estranged member, Kofi Gharbin, stem from ignorance of the project details and the individuals involved.
The response comes after Gharbin accused the executives of corruption on social media, a claim that has since gone viral.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Frank Ocansey, the group said nothing could be further from the truth.
It explained that the eco-park project has been diligently executed since its inception in February 2025.
The group stressed that it “will not be distracted by destructive voices,” assuring its members and the wider Accra Academy community of its “unalloyed commitment to a transparent and accountable execution of the project to ensure its success.”

RESPONSE TO CORRUPTION ALLEGATION AGAINST BLEOO 2G YEAR GROUP
The attention of the 2000 Year Group of the Accra Academy has been drawn to an unfounded allegation of corruption by Kofi Gharbin, a social media activist, popularly known as ‘Mr Happiness’, against the executives of the year group.
The estranged member of the year group, without basis and obviously without facts, has accused the leadership of the group of embezzling funds meant for the ongoing Beatrice Lokko Memorial Eco-Park. Nothing can be further from the truth.
The Eco-Park, which was a project idea mooted by the school authorities to provide a sitting area for students, visitors and guardians, was taken up by the Bleoo 2G Year Group as part of our Silver Jubilee Celebration. The project officially started in February 2025, and was broken down into four major phases;
- Grounds preparation
- Construction
- Greening
- Beautification, all at an estimated cost of GHS 350,000. We are currently at the third stage of the project which involves greening, planting of canopy trees and other ancillary works by garden specialist.
The project is being managed by a committee, whose membership includes Richard Abbey, Chief Executive Officer of Xodus Communications and founder of 40 Under 40 Ghana, United Kingdom, South Africa and Global, Israel Kweku Mensah Susuli, Governing Board Member of the Ghana Digital Centre, Nii Armah Ashong Katai, PR and Sponsorship Specialist at Betpower, Rexford Amegbor, Construction technician, and Mr Ebenezer Mac Acquaye, Project Manager as well as Kweku Brace, Specialist Client, Due Diligence both with commercial banks. The committee members are among the 65 members of the Association, out of a total of 151 members who have contributed so far towards the execution of the project and have provided monthly updates on the progress of work to members of the Association all of whom are on the Bleoo 2G WhatsApp Group.
The funds for the project is being administered on Chango, a payment platform that allows utmost transparency, indicating who has paid what, at what time and how much has been transferred to a vendor for a project activity. Not a single penny has gone into the private pockets of the project management committee, some of whom are the major contributors for the project, talk less of the executive members of the association who are just playing supervisory roles with no direct responsibility in handling the cash for the project.
It is therefore bizarre for any well meaning member of the group to accuse executives and project committee members who have devoted their time, their resources for what is ultimately a sacrificial duty for our beloved alma mater.
The committee members and the executives of the Association wish to assure the Bleoo fraternity, particularly, the 2G year group, the AAOBA global, friends and well wishers of our unalloyed commitment to a transparent and accountable execution of the project and to ensure its success. We will not be distracted by destructive voices whose criticisms are either out of ignorance, malice or both.
