Otto Addo to name Black Stars squad for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Black Stars coach Otto Addo is set to unveil his squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers later this week.

The senior national team will regroup next month for Matchday 7 and 8 of the qualification campaign. Ghana will first travel to the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before returning home to face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.

After a challenging 2024, the Black Stars began 2025 on a high note, securing consecutive victories against Chad and Madagascar in March. The team thrashed Chad 5-0 and followed up with a 3-0 win over Madagascar.

With the qualifiers resuming soon, Addo and his technical team are expected to name a strong squad for the crucial games. The coach has been monitoring Ghanaian players across Europe, while assistants John Paintsil and Fatau Daud have been overseeing local talent.

It is believed that Thomas Partey, who is facing rape charges, could be left out of the squad, while Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is expected to make a return to the team.

Currently topping Group I after six matches, the Black Stars will be looking to maintain their momentum as they chase a fifth World Cup appearance.
