The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has extended warm congratulations to Godwin Asediba of Media General for winning the 2025 BBC Komla Dumor Award.
In a statement issued by the National Executive and signed by General Secretary Dominic Hlordzi, the GJA expressed pride in Asediba’s achievement.
The Association noted that it adds to his impressive list of honours, including the Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling and multiple GJA awards.
The association praised Asediba for consistently demonstrating excellence, innovation, and a commitment to journalism that drives change, amplifies underrepresented voices, and supports national development. His recent recognition, the statement said, is “a real testament” to those values.
The GJA urged young journalists across the country to take inspiration from his career and aspire to the same level of professionalism. It further commended him for setting “an exceptional example” in upholding truth, fairness, and integrity in reporting.
“As you hoist the flag of Ghanaian journalism to the world, we are assured that your work will continue to transform lives, influence policy, and project Ghana to the rest of the globe,” the statement added.
The association concluded by reaffirming its solidarity with Asediba, encouraging him to “keep raising the bar of excellence in service to our motherland, Africa and humanity.”
