Renowned legal practitioner and award-winning broadcast journalist, Samson Lardy Ayenini, will headline this year’s Communication and Media Studies Students Association Festival (CoMSSAFest) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

Ayenini, the 2019 P.V. Ansah Journalist of the Year at the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, will speak on the theme: “The Role of Effective Communication in Deepening Our Democracy.”

Joining him on the speakers’ list are Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice Chancellor of UEW; Professor Albert Agbesi Wornyo, Dean of the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS); and Professor Andy Ofori-Birikorang, Patron of CoMSSA.

The event, hosted at the School of Creative Arts on UEW’s Central Campus, will draw participants from across the university.

According to Planning Committee Chair and CoMSSA President, Stephen Zoure, this year’s festival will be “historic”, featuring a richer programme than ever before.

“This festival is a tribute to your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to shaping the future of communication in our society,” Zoure said. “Over the next six days, we will be part of a defining chapter in UEW’s history.”

Highlights of CoMSSAFest 2025 include fun games, interactive sessions with lecturers, and a dinner and awards night celebrating outstanding members and alumni of the SCMS.

The celebrations also mark the lead-up to the School’s 20th anniversary in 2027.
