This is a big national loss – IGP Yohuno on helicopter crash [Video]

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, has extended his condolences following the military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians.

Describing the tragedy as a national loss, IGP Yohunu paid tribute to the fallen heroes after laying a wreath and lighting a candle at the Ceremonial Gardens of the Jubilee House on Friday, August 8.

“This is really very sad news. We were all working in the office when we heard about this tragic incident that occurred on the Obuasi road. The crash is a big national loss. The entire country, including the Ghana Police Service, was mourning,” he said.

He continued, “The whole country, and especially my people in the Ghana Police Service, are highly concerned. All that we are saying is that we wish the families and the entire nation our condolences.”

The IGP also extended a message of hope and comfort to the bereaved families.

“We hope that God will protect the families of these, our beloved, gallant leaders of this country who lost their lives. God will protect them, protect their souls, and also protect their families in this difficult time,” he added.
