Nine Ghanaian prison officers have been awarded the prestigious United Nations Medal by the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO).
The award ceremony, organised by the MONUSCO Corrections Unit, recognised the officers for their outstanding contributions to prison reform and corrections under the UN Peacekeeping framework.
Three of the nine officers, who recently returned to Ghana after successfully completing their mission, were decorated at a special medal presentation held at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra.
The remaining officers received their medals in the DRC before returning home.
The Director General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), delivered a brief presentation via Zoom on the theme “Cooperation, Resource Sharing and Future Mission Support.”
