The total value of mobile money (MoMo) transactions in Ghana stood at GH¢323.2 billion in June 2025, reflecting a 10.2% decline from the GH¢360 billion recorded in May.
This is according to the Bank of Ghana’s July 2025 Summary of Economic and Financial Data.
Despite the monthly dip, year-on-year performance remains robust. In June 2024, the total value of MoMo transactions was GH¢224 billion — meaning June 2025 saw a GH¢99.2 billion increase, representing approximately 44.3% annual growth.
The data highlights the continued expansion of digital financial services in the country.
Transaction volumes also saw a month-on-month decline, with 735 million transactions recorded in June, down from 796 million in May — a 7.7% drop. However, this figure is significantly higher than the 644 million recorded in June 2024, marking a 14.1% year-on-year increase.
The report further noted that the number of registered mobile money accounts had reached 76.4 million, with 24.5 million classified as active users. Additionally, the float balance — the total amount of money held in mobile wallets — rose to GH¢28.9 billion.
While the June figures show a dip in monthly performance, the strong annual growth in both value and volume underscores the public’s sustained reliance on mobile money platforms.
