OSP using public office to settle personal scores – Vincent Assafuah [Listen]

Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of using its mandate to pursue personal vendettas.

This follows the detention of Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Assafuah described the bail conditions imposed on the broadcaster as “outrageous” and “unfair,” claiming they amounted to an attack on press freedom.

“It is clear the OSP, led by Kissi Agyebeng, is using public office to settle personal scores. Paul Adom-Otchere has criticised him before on his show, and now he’s being treated like a petty criminal,” he stated.

Paul Adom-Otchere was detained by the OSP after failing to meet his bail conditions, which reportedly included the presentation of two landed properties.

According to the OSP, the charges are linked to a revenue assurance audit contract at GACL.

However, Mr. Assafuah questioned why only the former board chairman was detained when decisions at GACL are made collectively by the board.

He also defended Adom-Otchere’s cooperation with investigators, insisting he voluntarily turned himself in.

“If he doesn’t have landed property, does that mean he should be arrested? The conditions are excessive and risk undermining our democracy,” he warned.
