Two people have been confirmed dead following a tragic accident involving an articulator truck loaded with cement pipes along the Fomena–Adansi Asokwa stretch in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
The truck, with registration number GT 5501-23, was travelling from Takoradi to Kumasi when it veered off the road into a ditch in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal crash that claimed the lives of two individuals on board.
The Fomena District Police, led by DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, responded promptly to the scene.
The bodies of the deceased have since been transported to the Adansi Fomena District Hospital mortuary as investigations continue into the cause of the crash.
Residents, alarmed by the recurring accidents on the stretch, have renewed calls for improved road safety. Many blame poor visibility and the absence of speed control measures for the frequent incidents, describing the area as an accident-prone zone.
