Ghanaian hiplife artiste Donzy is confident that his latest song, Problem, will earn him his first Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) plaque.
Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Donzy declared:
“I am going to win Hiplife Song of the Year with this song [Problem],” he said.
According to him, the song was purposefully crafted with that award category in mind.
Donzy, who has never won a TGMA before, believes he was unfairly snubbed in 2016 when Crusade—his hit collaboration with Kofi Kinaata and Benji—missed out on Best Collaboration of the Year.
“I was supposed to win with Crusade, but it didn’t come my way,” he recalled.
Asked why he felt he deserved it, he said: “Because that was the collaboration of the year, hands down! It was supposed to be.”
He added that a lot of creativity went into the song, and he had hoped the recognition would inspire others in the industry.
For now, Donzy is placing his hopes in Problem, a new single featuring Fameye. The song is already gaining traction, and Donzy believes it’s only a matter of time before it claims its place on the TGMA stage.
