A fresh wave of innovation swept through Ho over the weekend as the Passion to Pouring cocktail tasting event made a bold statement about the city’s potential in Ghana’s evolving hospitality landscape. Held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, the event brought together a diverse crowd of cocktail enthusiasts, creatives, and business leaders in an immersive celebration of African flavours, music, and mixology.
Curated by emerging hospitality entrepreneur Governor Tetteh, the event sought to reimagine cocktail culture through an African lens—infusing local ingredients with storytelling and flair. Under the vibrant theme “Mood, Music, Mixology” (3M), the gathering didn’t just serve drinks; it delivered an experience that bridged tradition and modern creativity.
“Passion to Pouring started with a desire to make African ingredients central to cocktail innovation, while inspiring the next generation to see hospitality as a space of pride, excellence, and opportunity,” Mr. Tetteh said.
African Identity in Every Sip
The main tasting session, which hosted 46 invited guests, featured five original cocktails—Broken Pie of Ginger, Matsewem, Lebuny, Ruth’s Embrace, and Chairman—each meticulously designed to tell a story and spark conversation. With roots in local culture and flavours, these cocktails captured the soul of Ghanaian hospitality in a glass.
The drinks were not only praised for their taste but also for the thought and craftsmanship behind them, offering guests a deeper appreciation for the emerging art of African mixology.
From Tasting to Transformation
The event transitioned into a lively cocktail after-party, drawing over 300 attendees from various sectors. The atmosphere was electric—fuelled by music, vibrant networking, and an unmistakable sense of local pride. It was more than just entertainment; it was an affirmation of Ho’s readiness to take its place on Ghana’s cultural and lifestyle map.
Local Leadership Lends Support
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion was Togbe Kludzehe IV, Afetorfia of Ho Bankoe, who lauded the initiative for promoting creativity and placing indigenous culture at the centre of modern innovation.
“This is the kind of thinking and ambition we must support—events that showcase our identity while also driving tourism, jobs, and industry,” he said.
Also present was Mr. Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (Volta and Oti Regions), whose attendance highlighted the growing intersection between creative enterprise and industrial development in the region.
A New Benchmark for Ho
With its strong turnout, compelling theme, and original offerings, Passion to Pouring has set a new standard for hospitality experiences in Ho. It reflected a city on the rise—confident, creative, and capable of leading a cultural shift where local resources are turned into world-class experiences.
Mr. Tetteh, encouraged by the overwhelming response, promised future editions with even greater scope.
“This is just the beginning,” he said. “We’re building a movement that will put Ho on the map—not just as a cultural hub, but as a leader in hospitality excellence in Ghana.”
