The District Chief Executive of Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, Charles Appiah Kubi, has initiated an educational foundation to promote quality education in the area.
The foundation aims to support brilliant but needy students and prevent children from engaging in illegal mining, by encouraging them to pursue their education.
Speaking to Adom News during a thanksgiving service and the launch of the foundation at Tebeso II, Mr. Appiah Kubi urged the people of Bosome Freho to support him in developing the area.
“We lack employment opportunities in our district, leading many youths to engage in illegal mining. However, this foundation will help eliminate children from galamsey,” he said.
The thanksgiving service and foundation launch drew dignitaries, including chiefs, political leaders, and representatives from various churches.
Mr. Appiah Kubi used the opportunity to caution residents against engaging in criminal activities and seeking his intervention to bail them out.
“Don’t think that knowing me will allow you to engage in crime and seek my intervention to bail you out. It won’t work. We are all equal before the law,” he warned.
Additionally, the MCE appealed to the Roads Minister to assist in constructing roads in the area.
“I don’t have a single kilometer of asphalt road in my district, which negatively affects our transportation,” he stated.
He expressed hope that President Mahama’s government would consider constructing roads in the Bosome Freho district.
