Dison International School, an esteemed Cambridge curriculum institution located at Burma Hills in Accra, held a colourful graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 5, 2025, to celebrate its young learners advancing to the next stage of their academic journey.
The ceremony brought together proud parents, teachers, and the wider student body to witness pupils transition from primary to lower secondary and those who completed the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
The event was marked by a vibrant display of talent and creativity from pupils, who captivated the audience with choreography displays, cultural dances, piano recitals, and a fashion show, underscoring the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded talents alongside academic excellence.
Delivering his speech on the theme Celebrating the Past: Embracing the Future, the chairperson for the event and Member of Parliament for the Techiman South Constituency, Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah, reflected on the humble beginnings of the school.
“We gathered here not to mark only the achievement of our graduands but also the inspiring journey of Dison International School, one that beautifully illustrates the power of vision and perseverance. Today we pay tribute to the humble origin of our school,” he stated.
According to him, the school began in September 1970 as a nursery school operating from a garage in house number D7 at Lamogne Estates, starting with just six children.
What began as Dolly Memorial Crèche and Nursery School has evolved into a comprehensive educational institution.
“It is truly extraordinary to think how this modest beginning laid the foundations for generations of learning and growth; from that garage, the school grew steadily in strength and reputation,” he added
Mr. Korsah further urged the graduates to learn from the institution’s journey while upholding the values of excellence and critical thinking instilled in them by the school.
“To our graduands, today we celebrate all you have achieved, each lesson learned, friendships forged, and each challenge you have overcome. You are living proof that no beginning is too small and no dream too ambitious.
“As you step forward to the next phases of your journeys, remember you carry within you the value of the spirit of this community. Embrace the future with courage and optimism, knowing you are well to mark your time,” he advised.
He also commended parents, guardians, teachers, and staff for their unwavering support in upholding the school’s vision and nurturing students, with a particular focus on equipping them with both academic knowledge and vital life skills.
In her keynote address, the principal of the school, Ade Patricia, expressed profound joy and pride in the graduates.
“You may be little, but your dreams are big, and so are your hearts. To our graduates, this journey through this primary level has been filled with learning, growth, and discovery. This year, you were tested not just through textbooks, but through real challenges” she stated.
She further commended their remarkable progress this academic year and encouraged them to aim even higher in the years ahead.
“You took on the Cambridge checkpoint exams, and your results soared above the world average. Let me take us through the results for the checkpoint for this year. In English, the international average was 33 over 50, but our school average was 39 over 50.
“In mathematics, the world average was 31 over 50. Our school average was 38 over 50. In science, the world average was 31 over 50, our school average was 43 over 50. Now, overall scores from last year as a school, we had 38 over 50, but this year, we had 39 over 50,” she highlighted.
She also revealed an ambitious target for the school average for Cambridge checkpoint exams the following year, seeking support from teachers, parents, and students.
“Now what do we aim for next year? Our aim for next year is to get between 43 and 45 over 50. Teachers and parents, I believe we can make this happen. I believe we will get all your support. Students, I know you are ever ready to take on this challenge. God bless you,” she stated.
A heartfelt moment came with the valedictorian address, where the top graduating student extended deep gratitude to the school’s leadership, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents for their unwavering guidance, further acknowledging God’s grace and favour, attributing their collective success to divine providence.
Some parents and guardians who graced the event lauded the school for its holistic approach to education and commitment to nurturing the unique potential of their wards.
The ceremony featured an awards segment where outstanding students were recognized for their stellar academic performance, exemplary conduct, and contributions to school life.
Beaming with pride, recipients took turns receiving prizes, drawing cheers and applause from their peers, parents, and teachers.
The occasion wrapped up with a heartfelt choral rendition from the graduands to express their gratitude to God for a successful ceremony as the Dison community looked ahead to a future of continued excellence.
