Former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed delight over Mohammed Kudus’ high-profile move to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham has reportedly reached an agreement with West Ham United for the Ghanaian international in a deal worth £55 million.
Kudus is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before signing a six-year contract with the North London club.
Reacting to the news on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Bawumia—an avid Tottenham supporter—shared his excitement about the transfer.
“I am excited to see our Ghanaian starboy make this move to my Spurs. All the best in your medical, Mohammed Kudus,” he posted.
Kudus joined West Ham United in 2023 from Dutch side Ajax in a £38 million deal and enjoyed an impressive debut season. He scored eight goals and provided nine assists across all competitions. In the Premier League, he made 35 appearances, netting five goals and delivering four assists.
The 24-year-old’s contract with West Ham runs until 2028 and includes a release clause which was activated earlier this month—£80 million for non-English clubs, £85 million for domestic rivals, and £120 million for Saudi Arabian teams.
As Spurs prepare for a return to Champions League football, Kudus’ pedigree in European competitions, particularly during his time at Ajax, is expected to bolster their ambitions.
