Hearts of Oak have officially withdrawn from the 2025 Eko International Cup, citing scheduling conflicts with their pre-season program.
The Ghana Premier League side was set to feature in the Nigerian-hosted tournament as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 football season.
However, the club announced on Monday that the tournament fixtures clashed with its meticulously planned pre-season training schedule.
In a statement, Hearts of Oak explained that the decision was made in the best interest of the team’s readiness for the new campaign.
The club revealed that players will break camp on Wednesday, July 9, and are expected to return in August to continue preparations.
Upon regrouping, Hearts of Oak will participate in the GHALCA Top Four tournament, scheduled for August 15 to 19.
They are also slated to feature in the Homowo Cup, although the date and opponent are yet to be confirmed.
The Phobians will wrap up their pre-season with a high-profile clash against city rivals Great Olympics in the Democracy Cup on August 28 — a fixture that will serve as a key test for head coach Didi Dramani as he finalizes his squad for the new season.
