Medeama SC head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has set an ambitious target for the 2025/26 season — to win the Ghana Premier League title.
The former Ghana international took charge of the Yellow and Mauve midway through last season after leaving Accra Lions and led the team to an 8th-place finish with 50 points.
Despite a trophyless campaign, Tanko insists his focus has always been on long-term stability and success.
“When I came in, the goal was to bring stability and success,” said Tanko. “We missed out on the top four, and that’s disappointing. But we’re not coming back next season to chase the top four — we’re coming for the title.”
Tanko emphasized that while there won’t be a complete overhaul of the squad, key areas need reinforcement.
The 47-year-old revealed that bolstering the defense and attack will be top priorities in the transfer window.
“There won’t be massive changes, but we need to reassess. Players who are surplus to requirements will either be offloaded or sent out on loan, so we can make space for the right additions.
“We have a good group of players, but we need to add more quality. A centre-back and a striker are definitely priorities,” he stated. “The rest will come from the talented young players we already have at the club.”
With a full pre-season ahead and targeted signings in the pipeline, Tanko is confident Medeama will be ready to challenge the best teams in the country.
“I’m here to build something strong and lasting,” he declared. “Next season is not just about improvement — it’s about going for the ultimate prize.”
