A late-night fire outbreak behind Ferro Fabrik Limited at the Tema Heavy Industrial Area has destroyed over 500 wooden structures.

The wooden structures, which served both domestic and commercial purposes, caught fire in the late hours of Wednesday, June 18. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

A swift and coordinated response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) helped salvage several wooden structures, including Ferro Fabrik Limited and nearby factories, preventing the fire from spreading further and causing extensive damage to other properties.

Divisional Officer II Ebenezer Yenzu, Public Relations Officer of the GNFS in the Tema Region, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that his office received a distress call at about 23:52 hours. The first fire appliance was dispatched from the Tema Industrial Area Fire Station, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Orlando Adablanu, and arrived at the scene at approximately 23:58 hours.

He said the firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 01:59 hours and fully extinguished it by 05:43 hours on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

The operation was reinforced by six additional fire engines from Tema Metro, Motorway, Ashaiman, Newtown, Devtraco, and BOST fire stations.

The firefighting effort also received support from the Tema Regional Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer II (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, other senior GNFS officers, and partner emergency response agencies.

DOII Yenzu praised the personnel for their prompt, tactical, and well-coordinated response, which he said was instrumental in saving lives and protecting critical infrastructure within the industrial enclave.

He added that investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway.
