Multimedia Group Limited journalist Isaac K. Normanyo, who primarily reports from the Ashanti Region, has been awarded the prestigious Heroes Award at The Heroes Festival 2.0 held in Obuasi.
The organisers commended Normanyo for his outstanding courage and resilience, especially as a physically challenged journalist who ventures into challenging terrains often considered reserved for the physically able.
They praised his relentless pursuit of impactful social stories that have brought tangible improvements to individuals and communities across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Isaac K. Normanyo expressed surprise and gratitude, noting that he never imagined his work was being so closely followed.
“I didn’t know people were watching and listening as I went into the trenches across the country,” he said.
He highlighted how his reports had helped bring essential infrastructure such as schools, water, and healthcare facilities to underserved communities. Normanyo dedicated the award to his colleagues at Multimedia, the management, and his family for their unwavering support.
Godfred Acheampong, Project Director of The Heroes Festival 2.0, said the event was established to honour individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the development of Adansi and Ghana.
He lauded Normanyo’s determination and impact, despite his physical disability, as an example of selfless service and journalistic excellence.
Kwabena Owusu Nketia, the Municipal Education Director for Obuasi East, also paid tribute to Normanyo’s exceptional work ethic.
“He has proven that disability is not inability. Normanyo is always punctual and fearless—he doesn’t shy away from exposing wrongdoing wherever he finds it,” he said.
