Ablakwa attends inauguration of Pope Leo XIV [Photos]

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, graced the inauguration Mass of Pope Leo XIV.

The North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP)’s historic appearance was on behalf of President John Mahama and the people of Ghana.

The ceremony took place at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City, following the election of the Pope, born Robert Prevost, on May 8, 2025.

Hundreds of delegates from around the world were in attendance to celebrate and witness the formal beginning of the new papacy.

Taking to his Facebook page, Mr. Ablakwa shared photos of the profound moment, including a handshake with the Pope.

The minister also conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Mahama to Pope Leo XIV, while expressing appreciation for the warm reception.

Pope Leo XIV, 69, from Chicago, Illinois, is the first American and the 267th pontiff in history.
