Pregnant woman, four others face court over murder of mobile money vendors

-

Five suspects, including a pregnant woman, have been remanded into police custody by the Asokwa Circuit Court in connection with the robbery and killing of two mobile money vendors at Krofrom and Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region.

According to police sources, the pregnant woman is alleged to have played a key role as an informant for the criminal gang.

She is believed to have gained the trust of the two victims by posing as a friend before passing on critical information to the group, which enabled them to target the vendors.

Both robberies resulted in the deaths of the victims and the theft of significant amounts of money.

During court proceedings on Wednesday, the woman pleaded for bail, citing her health condition and pregnancy.

However, the court, presided over by Her Honour Afia Owusuaa Appiah, denied bail to all five suspects, citing the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing investigations.

The case has been adjourned to May 21, 2025, as police continue to gather evidence to support prosecution.

The community remains tense following the double murder, which has heightened fears over the safety of mobile money operators in the region.
