Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah is confident the Black Stars will do everything possible to make it to the next stage of the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The prolific defender, who missed Ghana’s final group match against Guinea Bissau, cautioned against complacency and predicted an interesting match against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia today.

“If you are one of the favourites it doesn’t mean you are there, we have all seen the surprises so we have to stay focused and push hard.

“It is going to be an interesting game, round of 16 game, knockout game and I know it will be good and the team will do everything possible to make it to the next stage,” the United States based defender stated at the pre- match press conference held at the Ismailia stadium.

The Columbus Crew central defender also gave an injury booster as he confirmed his readiness to play in today’s match after recovering from injury.

“I feel good now and I am getting better, so I will leave that to the medical team and the coach,” he noted.

The Black Stars will face Madagascar at the Quarterfinals stage if they win today.

Kick off time for today’s match is 9:00pm local time (7:00pm GMT).
