The Chronicle newspaper says its investigations have uncovered an alleged conspiracy by some persons within National Security apparatus, to intimidate a claimant to a parcel of land at Gbetsile (Hallelujah) in the Kpone Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region.
The said parcel of land is currently being occupied by Cedar Concrete Ltd where a worker at the site, Charles Teye Mensah, was reportedly assaulted by a person suspected to be a member of the National Security team last Friday, July 27.

Mensah’s only crime was wanting to know if the team, made up of some armed men from the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit had a court order empowering them to enter the land but his question infuriated the armed men, culminating in the assault on him.
The Emef Police at Mataheko near Afienya, are investigating the assault case.
The further asserts in its reports that one Nathan Marfo Gyasi, leader of the group and said to be a National Security operative, when contacted, declined comment.

According to him, until the Chronicle reporter furnishes him with the name of the one who provided his mobile number to the media, he would not talk.
However, Chronicle sources at National Security have confirmed that some highly-placed persons in the set-up have interest in the land in question and that was why the operation was sanctioned.

Lawyers for the claimant to the land say harassments by powerful state agencies must be condemned, especially in the present era of democracy and rule of law.
They advised interested parties to resort to redress in the courts instead of behaving as though there are no laws in the country.
