In an effort to promote economic empowerment and self-reliance among women and girls, the Blessed Hand of God (B.H.O.G) Foundation has trained and certified 800 women and young ladies in Tema West, equipping them with practical skills in the production of household essentials such as shampoo, Power Zone, Dettol and Azuma soap, and liquid soap.
This impactful initiative took place in Community 5, Tema West, and forms part of the Foundation’s broader mission to uplift vulnerable groups and foster sustainable community development through hands-on social interventions.
Founded by Madam Edita Wilson, the B.H.O.G Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the less privileged, widows, the aged, children, and women. Its vision is rooted in the belief that when you empower a woman, you transform a community — a principle that continues to guide its activities across Ghana.
The training programme was designed not only to teach participants how to produce quality hygiene products but also to provide them with the confidence and certification needed to launch their own small businesses.
This marks a vital step toward financial independence, especially for women in underserved communities.
“We believe in building futures through knowledge, dignity, and opportunity,” said Barikisu Mahei, Head of Programmes at B.H.O.G.
“Our goal is to empower women and young ladies to become self-reliant and to contribute meaningfully to their households and communities.”
Some of the beneficiaries expressed joy and gratitude, saying they were thrilled to have been equipped with valuable skills that will help them start their own businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The programme aligns with B.H.O.G’s commitment to community development, addressing critical needs through targeted interventions that create long-term impact. By investing in women and young girls, the Foundation is laying the groundwork for resilient communities and a brighter, more inclusive future.
For the newly trained entrepreneurs in Tema West, this marks the beginning of a new chapter — one filled with promise, opportunity, and the tools to thrive.
As B.H.O.G continues its mission across Ghana, the Foundation remains committed to identifying and addressing the needs of marginalized populations.
Through initiatives like this, it demonstrates the power of skill-building, compassion, and community-led change.
In Tema West, 800 women and girls now stand empowered — ready to shape their futures, support their families, and uplift their communities.
