A 58-year-old woman, identified as Akua Agyeiwaa, has been burnt to death in a domestic fire at Danyame in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night between 10:45 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

According to eyewitnesses, smoke was seen billowing from the victim’s roof, prompting residents to rush to her aid.

However, attempts to rescue her proved unsuccessful as the fire had already engulfed the entire house.

A resident, Clement, and his father broke into the room in a desperate effort to save the woman but were forced to retreat due to the intensity of the smoke and flames. The ceiling of the room is said to have collapsed on the victim, leading to her death.

The blaze also destroyed all six rooms in the house, leaving more than ten occupants homeless.

Meanwhile, the Dormaa Central Fire Service, which responded to the distress call, reportedly encountered a mechanical fault with its fire tender on the way to the scene.

Police and fire officers have since launched an investigation into the incident.
