Five persons perished in a gory road accident at Adoagyiri in the Nsawam municipality of the eastern region, Thursday evening.

The deceased were at a fast food joint buying fried rice when a KIA truck with registration number GES 3695-18 rammed into them killing them instantly.

The driver of the truck was said to have lost control of the truck carrying bags of sachet water and travelling from the Adeiso direction of the road.

Six other persons sustained severe injuries and are responding to treatment at the Nsawam government hospital.

It is officially not known what could have led to the accident but bystanders attribute it to brake failure.

Nsawam district police commander, Superintendent Marian Owusu has confirmed the incident and said police have since conveyed the bodies of the deceased to the Nsawam hospital morgue while they look into it.
