A joint nighttime operation led by the Cyber Security Authority with support from National Security and the Ghana Police Service, has led to the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.
The intelligence-led exercise targeted an alleged cybercrime enclave and resulted in the apprehension of 46 males and two females.
Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister for Communications and Digitilisation, Sam George confirmed this in a Facebook post.
Preliminary interrogations indicate that the suspects are predominantly Nigerian nationals and are believed to be involved in several cyber-related offences.
The suspects are linked to activities such as online romance scams, fraudulent investment schemes, impersonation, and illegal online gold trading.
During the operation, security personnel retrieved 54 laptop computers, 39 mobile phones, a Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers believed to have been used in the commission of the alleged crimes.
Following the operation, Mr. George has reaffirmed the CSA’s commitment to protecting Ghana’s digital space through targeted, intelligence-driven interventions.
He stressed that while Ghana remains open to individuals engaged in lawful business, it will not tolerate cybercriminal activities within its jurisdiction.
The Minister also commended the security operatives involved for their professionalism, noting that their conduct reflects the high standards for which Ghana’s security services are internationally respected.
Investigations into the suspects’ activities are ongoing, and further updates are expected as security agencies work to dismantle organised cybercrime networks operating within the country.
