46 bags of charcoal destroyed as fire guts park at Buipe

A midnight fire has gutted a charcoal park near the Savannah Diamond Cement Company at Buipe in the Savannah Region, destroying 46 bags of charcoal.

Firefighters from the Buipe Fire Station responded swiftly to a distress call received at 1:06 a.m.

The crew arrived in time to battle intense flames that threatened to spread across the park.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze was brought under control at 1:40 a.m. and completely extinguished ten minutes later.

Out of 126 bags of charcoal stored at the park, firefighters managed to salvage 80, preventing further loss.

No injuries were recorded, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The timely response by the GNFS has been praised by residents, who commended the crew for their quick intervention in averting what could have been a larger disaster.
