4 occupants escape as fire guts car at Esankwanta

Four people narrowly escaped injury after a Hyundai Sonata vehicle caught fire at Esankwanta in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 30, 2025, shortly after the vehicle had refueled at a filling station in Adansi Dompoase.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire is believed to have originated from the fuel tank area before rapidly spreading to other parts of the vehicle.

Firefighters from the Fomena Fire Station, led by Sub-Officer Addae, responded swiftly to a distress call and managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour, preventing it from reaching the engine compartment.

Though the vehicle suffered extensive damage, all four occupants—three men and one woman—escaped unhurt.

The GNFS has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
