Twenty-nine born again Christians have returned their results slips to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) after they had confessed of engaging in examination malpractice.
According to them, cheating in examination hall is a sin noting that as born again Christians they have decided to tender in their certificates in other to be forgiven by God.
The examination body in a statement released after its 62nd National Examination Committee meeting recently, stated that the 29 certificates returned by the born again Christians were among the examination council’s results issued 32 and 33years ago respectively.
They further disclosed that there were others which includes three that sat for the examinations in 2000, 2004, 2008, two each in 1992 and 2003 while one certificate each was returned by born again Christians who sat for the examination in 1984, 1985, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2012.
However, four certificates each were also returned by Christians who on their own confessed that they cheated while sitting for their exams in 2011 and 2013.

  1. Bull shit, after the certificate is useless in the person’s life the return it as ‘born again Christian’. Am assuring them heaven is not like pito where you can just buy whenever you have the urge to take it.

  2. What about the monies the certificates have fetched them.
They should refund those monies they earned from the certificates and with interest for they would not be forgiven

    • Please dear, don’t say things u r r not well informed about.
Sin is not for Christian alone, once u do what’s not ryt before God u have committed sin

  3. The gesture is a commendable one. God is always ready to accept everybody irrespective of how bad his/her sin was. If all Christians will just behave like this in one way or the other, Ghana will be a different place.

  4. Good they confessed but what does returning the cert change? If so then all certs acquired as a result of good wassce results should also be turned in.

  5. This is absolutely nonsense.. Those years mentioned had attained PhD and even doctorate degree..so my question is when those folks “born again” had slept with someone will they go to the families of the victims they fornication to compensate with their semen. This is shear ignorance and foolishness

  6. This is lyk an armed robbery case 33yrs back, investing the loot and after becoming a billionaire in 33yrs tym u return the exact amount u stole to the owner in the name of repentance. What happens to the fortune u’ve u have made out of that armed robbery?

    • Comment:its not about the mere wealth, it’s also about freeing your self from emotional guilt. it’s true they’ve acquired a lot but they just realised it was all wrong, besides it’s never late to right a wrong

  7. Good they confessed but what does returning the cert change? If so then all certs acquired as a result of good wassce results should also be turned in.

  8. Comment:These people are not serious..now that the certificate is of no use to them..they are returning it..I’m shocked some people believe they have done this in the name of repentance

  9. Does it mean ma class mates I taught one or two answers at the primary JHS, SHS during exercises etc I have to go and find my class 3 teacher and confess or what? If it was money that one stole he can return it or if false witness that has landed someone in prison u can tell the truth but if u cheated in exams u only ask for forgiveness and move on. So what would they have done if the sin was abortion. Would they create new babies. 33yrs and 32 yrs ago so maybe they even have PHD so would they burn the new certs or what?. Copying even someone’s assignment is also wrong so about 99% of Christians have cheated at least once in their life time. And even the Waec itself are they clean. Who leaks apor. Africans we do concert a lot so this is just one Kumahood release hahahahaha

    • Comment:Am sure you have no idea about living half of your life in guilt. You might not see examination malpractice as anything very serious but someone does. unless he confesses his conscience does not free him. this is no joke it’s real.

  10. After 33yrs of gaining all what u wanted, the last thing is to return ur fake certificate which ur children have benefited from it to their PhD, waoooo Ghanaians are we safe?

  11. ” Fear has torment ” Because they don’t actually believe their sins were forgiven on the cross ,they were living in ignorance, God forgigave them long ago, they only need to talk to God and repent .Our sins have been dealt with long ago .

  12. They should bring their university certificate as well cos that helped them to be in the university campus and also return any money they had in that era.

  13. To me I believe if this restitution is anything to go by then Thé WAEC itself should be the first to make such restitution and render an unqualify apology us. Why ? Cos those who r suppose to ensure sanity into our exams system for the award of credible certificates are the very same who end up leaking questions and going round extorting money from schools and stridents. A WAEC official sent from Accra to a depot going round schools to take about 2500 Ghana cedis and allow the students to do their own things. A big Shame !

  14. According to the restitution law among the Hebrews, for example, one has to pay double what he has taken from someone illegally. In Zach’s example in the New Testament, he told Jesus that he was going to repay 4times back to all they have cheated. So in the case of returning a certificate alone, to my knowledge is not enough restitution. However, I wish to say that it is a very good gesture. It is God who will measure and pardon. God looks at intentions rather than actions in themselves (depends on God’s own judgment). But to me if they really want to do a restitution, it should be more than just a WASSCE certificate. They gained much through that cert. They should have added a token or take a value and donate it to the poor or charity.

  15. Can they remember every sin they committed and try to reverse it to please God? Only God is perfect… They must rather show repentance to God and not to try to erase one mistake they committed. God loves their repentance alone and that’s what he came to earth to die for.

  16. They are not serious.
    IJohn 1:9
But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.
When God forgive ones sin through Jesus Christ, Your sin is no more remember but He says we should make sure we don’t sin again.
So this Christian, should have know that not returning that certificate will save their lives to heaven but constant salvation walk in Jesus Christ.
Zakius didn’t return all bribery properties to their owners but to the needed or the poor.
Even he met Jesus Christ one and one mpo.
This people, where do they get their teachings from.
    Mommy.

  17. Then they should return their further education cerficates, jobs and the properties they have acquired as a result of the WAEC certificates too. Hmmm

  18. Na wawo. Im not sure they got a good grade that’s y they returned it. Already the certificates were just laying in their drowers. May God have mercy on us but honestly Ghana de be kekeke

  19. But what are they trying to prove by returning their certificates? Public show I guess. All certificates gained thereafter should be withdrawn then we can have this conversation again.

  20. So don’t they know that once you accept Christ all your sins are washed away?? What kind of teaching did they receive? Boo..
They should return the fish/meat they stole from their mothers soup as well.

  21. Since they claim the certificates were obtained through cheating, then I guess they have cheated in their lives thereafter cos it’s the certs that made them progress academically.
They should proceed to quit their jobs and fully surrender to God.
    I can’t think far.

  22. Will they tender or surrender the certificates they have acquired using the BECE certs, or will will they surrender their jobs they got using those certificates?
    God cannot be mocked

  23. The only forgiven of sin and. In all its ramifications is solely, wholel and entirely Almighty God and no one else.
Did Jesus not cry out whilst on the Cross: Father forgive them for they know not what they do?
That alone should be a sobering lesson to us.

  24. Since they claim the certificates were obtained through cheating, then I guess they have cheated in their lives thereafter cos it’s the certs that made them progress academically.
They should proceed to quit their jobs and fully surrender to God.
    I can’t think far.

  25. I am not sure if between then and now , it is only WAEC these guys robbed. There may other institutions and individuals too. They should do same to them as in the case of
    WAEC.

  26. Who are those trying to be God?
Please let God deal with them. He is the only best judge to sentence them.
On the other hand I want congratulate them for their bold step.

  27. People of today push their fellow men to hell. Let’s leave them to their repentance. The Spirit of God will help them to surrender the rest. We should not let them regret repenting. Many Ghanaians are finding it difficult to come out of their evil acts just because of the way we comment on issues. God bless our homeland Ghana.

  28. God bless them if you confessed your sins you will be forgiven.but if he want to released any curse on him,not only confession he should returned anything gotten from that certificate to the orphans like what sakiors did in the bible

  29. Lord have mercy. Jesus Christ never preached this to HIS disciples. Those 29 so called born again Christians should also return to de appropriate authorities or institutions all de higher certificates they were able to attain using de WAEC as their basis and all the monies they might have enjoyed from it.

  30. Any repentance without a radical and practical action is not genuine. Salvation for everybody must have a reference point which is an evidence. Check all the men in the who encountered God, they all took a spontaneous step – Moses, Abraham, Peter, Paul, etc – Matthew 3:8
God bless these 29 candidates for their bold step to be on the Lord’s side as the Lord pointed it to them.
    What about U?!

  31. If only those people attended SHS and Tertiary respectively, then they should also tender all those certificates as well because it is the BECE that the used to get their other certificates.

  32. Comment: what a joke. This would compete with de rest for de best of de century. since they cheated at waec, i guess dey did it during dier end of term n probably end of semester when they progressed to the tertiary. Its a nice gesture but its not enough. God said if we confess, hes just to forgive us. Aint that enough? Wats de essense when its of no use again? are they trying to leave a mark for the rest to follow? whiles they gained properties with it, u are expecting others to emulate when deve made natin with diers? its absolute nonsense. so u expect sam1 to sit down and fail whiles u know u learnt but just that maybe out of panic n maybe distraction b4 exams u forgot? God knows we are humans n dat der r sam situations which might cause us to go wayward a bit. Arrant nonsense

  33. IS GOOD THEY HAVE RETURNED THIS TO BE IN HONOR WITH THE LEGALS OF GHANA FINE BUT THEN WHAT OF THOSE YOUNG ONES WHO JUST COMPLETED THIS YEAR AND CAN NOT EVEN VIEW THEIR PLACEMENTS …. THE RE DIRECTORY THEY GAVE THEM IS NOW COLLAPSING TO SOMETHING ELSE… PLEASE LET’S NOT FAIL THIS YOUNG 2017 GENERATION WHO COULDN’T MAKE IT A CHANCE TO MEET THE CUTTING OFF POINT FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
