Stakeholders have called on government to review its tax exemption policies and fast-track the implementation of the proposed 24-hour economy policy to attract investment and create more employment opportunities for Ghanaians.
Speaking to Adom News at the launch of Obisco Apartments and Hotel in Juaso in the Asante Akyem South Municipality, former nursing lecturer in Ghana, the United States and Saudi Arabia, Samuel Sarfo, urged government to adopt tax policies that will make the business environment more attractive to investors.
Mr Sarfo, who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Obisco Apartments and Hotel, George Yaw Akwei, said regular reviews of tax exemptions and other incentives could encourage more businesses to invest and expand operations.
He explained that a favourable tax regime would help businesses grow, create jobs and reduce unemployment, particularly among the youth.
“Government must continue to review its tax policies and incentives to encourage investors to establish businesses and create more opportunities for young people,” he said.
Also speaking to Adom News, Head of the Science Department at Ada College of Education, Eunice Osei-Asibey, appealed to government to expedite the implementation of the 24-hour economy policy.
She said the initiative, if effectively implemented, could boost economic activity, increase productivity and provide more jobs for Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the Gyasihene of Asante Akyem Juaso, Nana Boateng Dentaa, encouraged young people to be proactive in seeking employment opportunities rather than relying solely on government interventions.
He urged the youth to embrace entrepreneurship, acquire skills and explore available opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
