A 22-year-old man, Christian Owusu, has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery in Kumasi.
The Ashanti Central District Police Command secured the conviction and sentencing on Thursday, August 14, 2026, following a robbery incident reported on July 21.
According to the police, the victim reported that at about 12:21 p.m. on July 21, while heading towards Konkromase Township, she was threatened and robbed of her handbag containing personal effects and cash.
Following investigations, Christian Owusu was arrested on August 4 and arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on August 7.
The case was presided over by His Lordship Mr Kwaku Baah Frimpong.
Owusu was charged with robbery and pleaded guilty to the offence, leading to his conviction on his own plea.
Before sentencing, he pleaded with the court for forgiveness.
The court, after considering his plea, sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
He was subsequently handed over to the authorities of the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
