2026 WCQ: Jordan Ayew credits team unity for Ghana’s big win over CAR

Black Stars

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has highlighted the team’s focus and collective determination as the driving force behind their convincing win over Central African Republic in Wednesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

In the Matchday 9 games, Ghana hammered Central African Republic 5-0 at the Stade d’Honneur in Morocco on Wednesday afternoon.

Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed the emphatic win.

Speaking exclusively to Adom FM’s Sports Page 2 after the game, Ayew described the squad’s discipline and unity as pivotal to the result, calling it a significant step toward securing Ghana’s spot at next year’s World Cup.

According to the Leicester City forward, the players approached the match with a clear, shared objective.

“We knew that when we win today, it will be a big, big step, and obviously, everyone was committed to the task. So we didn’t think too much, we just wanted to win the game, and that is what happened,” the 32-year-old said.

The victory keeps Ghana at the top of Group I with 22 points. The Black Stars will conclude their qualifiers against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
