
The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Chad in their Matchday 7 clash of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Jordan Ayew had put the four-time African champions ahead in the first half, but Chad’s Celestine Ecua struck a late equalizer in the 88th minute to deny Ghana all three points.
Despite the draw, Ghana remain atop Group I with 16 points, with three matches remaining in the qualification campaign.
The Black Stars are back in action on Monday when they host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off slated for 19:00 GMT. They will then conclude their qualifiers in October against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
Following the disappointing result in N’Djamena, attention now turns to Ghana’s qualification scenarios as they aim to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, set to be staged across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
