Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu will miss the Black Stars’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The AJ Auxerre player picked up a yellow card in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Chad in N’Djamena, his second of the campaign, earning a one-match suspension.
His absence coincides with the return of Thomas Partey, who was an unused substitute against Chad for reasons yet to be clarified. The Arsenal midfielder is expected to start against Mali.
Head coach Otto Addo has also handed a late call-up to Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo, who played a key role in the Spanish club’s promotion to La Liga. He is expected to join the squad before Monday’s fixture.
Ghana currently top Group I with 16 points from seven games, three ahead of Madagascar. Mali and Comoros are level on 12 points, while the Central African Republic sit on five. Chad remain bottom with a single point.
Kick-off for the Ghana–Mali clash is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
