2026 WCQ: Black Stars will go for revenge against Comoros – George Afriyie

Black Stars

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars’ technical team will be determined to avenge past defeats when they face Comoros in the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will host Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars have suffered two previous losses to the island nation, first during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, and again in Moroni in Matchday 2 of the current qualifiers.

With Ghana needing just a single point to secure World Cup qualification, Afriyie believes the team will approach the game with revenge in mind.

“I am 100% sure that the technical team will go for revenge against Comoros,” Afriyie told Asempa FM’s Sports Nite.

He also commended the progress within the squad, noting: “I have seen improvement in the Black Stars.”

Ghana currently leads Group I with 22 points, and the decisive encounter is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
