
Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has expressed optimism about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will aim to strengthen their position in the qualifiers when they face Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures.
Speaking to the media after the team’s first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, the former Ghana captain said he is confident in the squad’s readiness and believes the team is well-placed to reach the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
“Talking to them, they are ready to play the two games, and we all know that we have two crucial games that will determine our chances for the World Cup,” he said. “We believe that the guys will make it.”
Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
The team is scheduled to hold its final training session in Accra today ahead of their departure.
Currently, Ghana leads Group I with 15 points from six matches, three points clear of Comoros and five ahead of Madagascar, as they pursue a fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
