Top European football agent Goran Milovanovic has predicted a difficult campaign for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, backing the Black Stars to exit the tournament at the group stage.
The Serbian football intermediary believes Ghana will struggle to progress from Group G, forecasting that the four-time African champions will collect just a single point from their three matches against Panama, England and Croatia.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM ahead of Ghana’s opening fixture against Panama on June 17, Milovanovic suggested that the Black Stars could either draw or lose their first game before suffering defeats against England and Croatia.
“In my personal opinion, Ghana will not go in the second round, because they play against Panama and draw or lose. They will lose against England and lose to Croatia, and the point will not be enough,” he said.
Despite his gloomy prediction, Milovanovic acknowledged the quality and experience of the newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz.
However, he argued that the Portuguese tactician’s arrival came too close to the tournament, leaving him with limited time to fully assess and understand his squad.
According to Milovanovic, Queiroz has not had sufficient time to familiarise himself with the mentality, strengths and characteristics of the players ahead of football’s biggest showpiece.
The veteran agent nevertheless expressed hope that Ghana would prove him wrong and advance to the knockout stage, although he admitted he remains doubtful about their chances.
Milovanovic is no stranger to Ghanaian football, having maintained strong ties with the country’s football ecosystem for more than two decades.
Since 2004, he has worked with several Ghanaian players, including former Black Stars stars Lee Addy, Sulley Muntari, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Prince Tagoe and Daniel Opare.
Before embarking on a career in football management, Milovanovic enjoyed a professional playing career that saw him feature in Germany, Serbia and China. During his time at Hannover 96, he played alongside former Black Stars player and coach Otto Addo.
Following his retirement, he obtained a FIFA agent licence and established himself as a player representative, initially working with Serbian footballers before expanding his operations across Europe and Africa.
Milovanovic also played a role in bringing several high-profile coaches to Ghana through his close association with former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Among the coaches linked to his influence were Ratomir Dujkovic, who guided Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Goran Stevanovic and Milovan Rajevac, who famously led the Black Stars to the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama before taking on England and Croatia in what is considered one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.
