President John Mahama has inaugurated an 11-member inter-ministerial committee to coordinate Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 26.

Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe will chair the committee, with Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa serving as deputy. Additional appointees are Deputy National Security Coordinator Elizabeth Yankah, former Ghana international Abedi Pele, and Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director at the Ministry of Sports. The government also plans to include one representative from the private sector.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sports Minister Kofi Adams emphasised the importance of a unified and coordinated approach to the Black Stars’ World Cup preparations. He said the committee’s role is to streamline planning, foster collaboration among technical teams, and prevent fragmented efforts.

The government has allocated GH₵150 million to support Ghana’s campaign, with the Black Stars set to learn their group stage opponents on December 5 in Washington, D.C.
