England manager Thomas Tuchel expects a stern test at the 2026 World Cup, describing Ghana and Croatia as formidable opposition as his side prepares for next summer’s tournament.
The Three Lions were drawn into Group L alongside the two nations, with Panama completing the lineup for the competition hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking after the draw in Washington, Tuchel praised the stature of both Ghana and Croatia on the global stage.
“Difficult group with Croatia and Ghana, two regulars in World Cups and two proud and strong nations,” the former Chelsea and PSG boss said.
“Panama, I don’t know much about Panama at the moment, but we will find out about it before the tournament starts, of course,” he added.
England, considered among the contenders for the title, are scheduled to meet Ghana in their second group match on June 23.
The pairing rekindles memories of their only previous meeting — a 1-1 draw in a friendly at Wembley back in March 2011.
