Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed concern over a growing list of injuries within the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Key players, including Mohammed Kudus, Francis Abu, and Mohammed Salisu, are currently sidelined, while Tariq Lamptey, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Abdul Mumin, and Ernest Nuamah have resumed individual training following earlier injuries.

The developments have raised anxieties among fans, with player fitness expected to play a decisive role in Ghana’s World Cup ambitions.

Speaking on the situation, Okraku acknowledged the challenges but remained optimistic.

“I’m concerned, and everybody is concerned about the number of players in the medical room as you speak now. But I’m very positive. I’m a very positive person. I always believe that everything and anything is possible, and our job is to work as much as we can. Our job is to pray as much as we can for the Almighty God to bless us, and we leave the rest to him,” he told GFA Media.

“We’ll do our part, and we know that our part will be enough to make Ghana proud,” Okraku added.

The Black Stars will put their preparations to the test in international friendlies against Austria and Germany next month, before facing Mexico in May.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L for the tournament, alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Their campaign begins against Panama on June 17, followed by a clash with England on June 23, and concludes against Croatia on June 27.

Head coach Otto Addo is set to announce the final squad on June 1.
