The Black Queens of Ghana have arrived in Egypt ahead of their crucial first-leg clash in the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
Led by Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong, the team touched down in Cairo on Sunday evening, where they were warmly welcomed by members of the Ghanaian community in Egypt.
The Queens have since moved to Ismailia, where they will camp and fine-tune preparations for the highly anticipated fixture against Egypt on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ismailia–Suez Canal Stadium.
The encounter marks the first of two legs in Ghana’s quest to secure a place at the 2026 WAFCON.
The return leg will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the tie, team captain Portia Boakye expressed confidence in the squad’s focus and determination, stressing that the players are united and motivated to deliver victory for the nation.
